Jack Miller claims the Open victory at home with a measured ride in the Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
From Friday onwards, Jack Miller looked and felt confident around the Phillip Island circuit. He barely missed out on a spot in Q2 and was the leading Open rider in almost every session aboard his LCR Team Honda. Starting from the fifth row of the grid, the Australian made a strong start and made up several places in the opening laps with his trademark aggressive style. Unlike in previous races, Miller stayed calm and although riders passes him, he focused on keeping his times consistent and defending his lead over the other Open riders. Much of the race saw him lapping with satellite riders, able to show his full potential by staying with riders on more powerful motorcycles.
Jack Miller: “I’m really happy with today’s result, to be back as the top Open rider is great. We worked so hard this weekend, I believe it’s one of our best weekend performances so far. We pushed so hard and did a lot of work on the bike and I think we found something important, although we’ll have to wait until Malaysia to find out for sure. I’m really looking forward to going there now, it’s a track we’ve done a lot of testing at so it’ll be great to see our lap times there compared to what they were at the start of the season.”
